In 2022, Roy entered Highland Meadows Health & Rehab to recover and rehabilitate following surgery. Kathy says, “We chose Highland Meadows because it had been highly recommended by people we knew.”
After a three month stay for inpatient care, both Roy and Kathy say, “It was a great experience”!
As Kathy explains, facing the unknown away from home can be worrisome. “It can be mentally and physically challenging for the patient and difficult for the caregivers”, says Kathy. “But the support from the Highland Meadows staff was absolutely awesome.”
Kathy was here every day and was impressed with the one-on-one care he was receiving. She shared that the staff worked to keep Roy’s spirits up. Not only did they cheer him up, but they also encouraged him. For the patient, in many cases they worry that they won’t be able to leave and return to their home and loved ones so having supportive staff who share that goal makes a difference.
Getting to know many of the staff members helped reassure Kathy that Roy was in good hands.
She said they immediately received a warm welcome from Paula (front desk), Gracen (owner), and the rest of the staff. That welcoming feeling continued each day and throughout the staff with Kathy remarking that “communication around here is great”!
Therapy team gets high marks!
John, the Rehab Director, and therapists for physical, occupational, and speech therapy have worked to create a great care plan.
After Roy met his rehab goals, he was discharged from inpatient therapy, returning periodically for outpatient therapy. “He enjoys coming here and it has really helped. He has been coming here on and off a couple times each year when he needs a little extra therapy,” says Kathy. “The staff keeps him motivated!”
Following their experience, Roy & Kathy have been quick to recommend Highland Meadows to family and friends who might need care. In fact, Roy’s mother spent a few months there recovering and receiving therapy and had a great experience as well!
Kathy says, “I highly, highly recommend Highland Meadows to everyone whether they need long or short-term care!”
